Randy and I have been best friends for probably close to 4 years. We were the "3rd wheels" together... We hung out often, never on official dates as Randy had a girlfriend and I was a boy crazy college girl. I (as well as others) had talked to Randy about his girlfriend and how he deserved better than that. At the beginning never trying to break them up so I could be with him...Anyway. long story short they broke up, we began dating a while later.
We started planning a road trip for the summer of 2010 because we had both talked about how we wanted to road trip. We drove from Iowa to Whistler, Canada and saw many places in between. It was the trip of a lifetime. Adding to this was the fact that Randy had this beautiful diamond ring zip tied below the dashboard of the truck the entire first week of our trip... I had no idea it was coming. Randy had told me that he wanted to wait till we had been together for 5 years and pay off his truck first...well he's a liar. haha We were on Cape Flattery, the point of the Washington peninsula and he dropped to 1 knee and asked me.
I was shocked! but apparently the only one! He had bought the ring in March, asked my Parents in May (and my best friend / MOH was there). They all kept it a secret that whole time. I can't believe Sam kept her mouth shut! :)
Needless to say I couldn't be happier. He's my everything.

FI picked it out entirely by himself (obviously since I had NO idea it was coming)... He did a great job. I absolutely love it. I wear an Irish Claddagh ring on my right hand and have for some time so he picked this style because it has the similar shape to the hand on the claddagh ring.
